A recent gathering in Madrid welcomed faith communities, cultural voices and social actors to mark the World Day for Cultural Diversity. The meeting included a representative of the Bahá’í Community of Spain, Fernando Hernández of the Madrid Municipal Police Diversity Management Unit, flamenco artist Tito Losada, a Roma guitarist and composer, and human rights educator Denise González. Speakers presented different experiences and viewpoints on how education can reduce prejudice.
Throughout the gathering, participants considered themes such as tolerance, social cohesion and the prevention of discrimination. Fundación Mejora connected the initiative with Scientology’s emphasis on ethical values and community improvement. Ivan Arjona, representative of the Church of Scientology to European and international institutions, emphasised that cultural and religious diversity contributes to democratic life when accompanied by mutual understanding and responsibility.
